Tuesday, June 10th, 2008International fame in the Philippines
Saturday, June 7th, 2008As I’m sure some of you know, I was recently on vacation in the Philippines. The trip was very good and I have a lot of good memories from it.
On the second day, I went on a studio tour that ended with us in a live studio audience for Wowowee. For those that don’t know, Wowowee is a very popular show in the Philippines and it is broadcast all over the world to their expat community. It is basically a variety show with various contests in which people can win money.
The first part of the program, the audience dances to the intro music and the “best” dancers are picked for the first contest – “Hep Hep Hooray”. So when the show started (after a bit of coaching on what to do) we all started to dance. As the cameramen moved around the audience, they chose people and when it hovered in my area I had a bad feeling that I would be chosen (I kind of sticked out in that crowd). Sure enough I was chosen to compete.
The game itself was pretty straight forward, even if one doesn’t speak Filipino, and I made it about half way. The host started to flirt with me a bit, thinking that I would be shy and embarrassed — but seen as I was already there I decided to ham it up a bit. The best part was when I faked going in for a kiss and she recoiled! It was very funny and a great experience.

I have just about finished sorting out the pictures from the trip (I took quite a few) and will have more soon.
